Statement on Mixed Media Photography
For years I carried a passion for photography, and now mostly digital photography has become part of my life and career.
I consider myself a painter first and then a photographer. I like to manipulate my photos with aquacryl paint and liquid
enamel after printing them on special Japanese papers such as mulberry paper and rice papers.
I layer the manipulated photos, sometimes many photos, on archival museum-quality wood. I call my photographs,
“the imperfect photographs”. Combining the two mediums, painting and photography, is my source of creation in this series
of work. Each piece represents its own visual language of communication with the viewer.
My motivation is creating thought-provoking pieces rather than straight photography and aiming at planting the spark of
life within the created forms.
